  • Product Details

The Schneider ASBVIC212 provides mixed analog and digital I/O for Modicon Premium systems. This versatile module handles both continuous and discrete signals in one compact unit. Therefore, it reduces the number of modules needed for mixed-signal applications.

Product Overview

We designed this module for applications requiring both sensor inputs and actuator outputs. Its mixed-signal design saves valuable rack space in control cabinets. Moreover, this unit includes individual channel configuration for maximum flexibility.

Mixed-Signal Architecture

The Schneider ASBVIC212 integrates separate sections for analog and digital signals. Its eight ceramic capacitors filter noise on all analog power rails. Additionally, four tantalum capacitors provide energy for the analog output circuits. You get clean signal processing without cross-talk between channel types.

Energy Storage Components

Eight ceramic capacitors decouple high-frequency noise from each major IC. Four tantalum capacitors store charge for the analog output drivers. When an analog output changes rapidly, these capacitors supply the needed current. This design maintains output accuracy during fast update commands. Consequently, the module drives actuators smoothly without step changes.

Input Channel Configuration

Analog inputs 1 and 2 accept 0-10V signals from pressure or level sensors. Analog inputs 3 and 4 accept 4-20mA signals from temperature transmitters. Digital inputs 1 through 4 accept 24V DC signals from limit switches. All channel types operate simultaneously without performance degradation. You can mix and match signals within the same module.

Installation Steps

Insert this module into any Premium rack slot with a backplane connector. Align the Schneider ASBVIC212 with the plastic guide rails carefully. Push the module firmly until its locking mechanism clicks into position. Then secure the module with the top and bottom retaining screws. Connect field wiring to the removable 25-position terminal block.

Terminal Assignments

Terminals 1 through 8 connect to the four analog input channels. Terminal 9 provides the analog common return for all inputs. Terminals 10 and 11 connect to the two analog output channels.

Analog Output Features

Each analog output delivers 4-20mA current into loads up to 600 ohms. The output accuracy remains within ±0.5% over the full temperature range. A loop-powered configuration requires no external power supply for the outputs. The module includes open-loop detection for each analog output. A diagnostic bit sets when the loop current falls below 2 mA.

Application Scope

This I/O module suits HVAC and environmental control systems. Many water treatment plants use the Schneider ASBVIC212 for pump and valve control. Its mixed-signal capability handles both sensor feedback and actuator commands.
