Technical Specifications and Output Design
This output module provides discrete signal switching for Series 90-30 PLC systems. The GE IC693MDL740E controls solenoids, motor starters, and indicator lamps. You can install this unit alongside other I/O modules in the same rack. Its rugged construction handles continuous industrial operation without failure. The module weighs approximately 0.32 kilograms. Its dimensions measure 12.5 cm in height, 5.5 cm in width, and 11 cm in depth.

Relay Performance and Load Handling
Each output point uses a separate electromechanical relay. These relays provide true electrical isolation between the PLC and field devices. You can mix AC and DC loads on different points freely. The module handles inductive loads up to 0.5 Amps without external suppression. However, you should add snubber circuits for larger inductive devices. Each relay carries a mechanical life rating of 20 million operations. The electrical life varies from 100,000 to 500,000 cycles depending on the load.
Connectivity and Field Wiring
You connect field wiring through a removable terminal strip on the front panel. This terminal strip accepts wire sizes from 0.2 to 2.5 square millimeters. The GE IC693MDL740E features clearly labeled output point numbers and common connections. Each relay includes a visible status LED indicator. This LED lights up when the output receives an ON command from the CPU. Consequently, you can troubleshoot field wiring without special test equipment.
Installation and Operational Guidelines
You must insert this module into any standard Series 90-30 I/O slot. The backplane supplies 5V DC logic power to the relay coils. The module stores no output states when you remove system power. Therefore, all relays return to their normally open position immediately. You should verify total module current stays below 8 Amps. Exceeding this limit may cause overheating and premature relay failure.
