This output module controls field devices from the Series 90-30 PLC system. It drives solenoids, relays, indicator lamps, and small contactors. You can install this unit alongside analog or specialty modules in the same rack.

Physical Layout and Rack Mounting

This module measures 127 mm in width and 89 mm in height. Its depth reaches 56 mm for standard Series 90-30 racks. The unit weighs 270 grams, allowing easy one-hand installation. Two locking levers secure the module firmly into its chassis slot.

Internal Circuitry and Energy Storage

Ninety-eight components populate this double-sided output board. An 1800 µF capacitor bank provides snubbing for inductive load switching. This bank absorbs back-EMF energy from solenoids and relays. Consequently, the module protects output transistors from voltage spikes. Each point includes a dedicated optocoupler for bus-to-field isolation.

Output Configuration and Wiring

Sixteen sink-type (NPN) outputs switch the DC common side of loads. You connect the positive supply to your load, then wire the return to an output point. Each channel handles up to 0.5 amps continuously without external heat sinking. The total module current cannot exceed 4 amps across all active points. A removable terminal block accepts wires from 0.2 mm² to 1.5 mm².

Protection Features and Diagnostics

Short-circuit protection shuts down an individual output within 100 microseconds. The module automatically resets that channel after removing the fault. Over-temperature protection reduces current limit when internal temperature exceeds 85°C. Sixteen green LEDs show the on-off state of each output point clearly. Therefore, you can troubleshoot field wiring without a programming terminal.
