Internal Design and Signal Conversion

This RTD module uses a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter for precise measurements. A constant current source provides 1 mA excitation to each RTD sensor. The GE IC200ALG620-BB supports 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTD configurations. The 3-wire and 4-wire modes automatically compensate for lead resistance errors. The module converts each channel in 200 milliseconds sequentially. Consequently, this unit delivers accurate temperature readings for critical process control.

Installation and Wiring Guide

First, mount this module onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail inside your cabinet. Next, connect your RTD sensors to the 12-pin terminal block using shielded cable. For 3-wire RTDs, connect the two same-colored wires to the positive terminals. Then, connect the third wire to the negative terminal for lead compensation. Use 4-wire configuration for the highest accuracy over long cable runs. The module automatically detects the RTD type after you configure the software. This unit works with all VersaMax PLC systems including the IC200CPU series. Always connect the shield drain wire to earth ground for noise reduction.
