Sensor Wiring and Configuration
The module accepts 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTD connections. Three-wire configuration provides the best lead resistance cancellation automatically. You can mix different RTD types across the six input channels freely. The GE HE693RTD600M uses a removable screw terminal block for field wiring. Each channel includes built-in open-sensor detection for fault monitoring. An amber LED illuminates when the module detects a broken RTD wire.
Signal Processing and Data Format
The analog-to-digital converter delivers 16-bit temperature data to the PLC. Each channel returns a raw integer value representing 0.1°C increments. For example, a reading of 2350 means 235.0°C. The module performs all linearization and cold junction compensation internally. Consequently, the PLC receives directly usable temperature values without extra math. The unit draws all operating power from the 90-30 backplane. It requires no external power supply or separate excitation source.
Installation and Operational Guidelines
You must insert this module into any standard 90-30 I/O slot position. The backplane supplies 5V DC power to the analog circuits. The module draws approximately 200 mA from this backplane supply. You should use shielded twisted-pair cables for all RTD connections. This practice reduces electrical noise interference from nearby motors or drives. The GE HE693RTD600M stores no configuration data when you remove power. Therefore, the CPU must re-initialize all settings after each power cycle.
