The GE DS200AAHAH1ADC serves as a central connection point for ARCNET networks. This board distributes network traffic to multiple Mark V controllers simultaneously. Therefore, it eliminates the need for complex daisy-chain cabling between devices.
Product Overview
We designed this hub board for star topology ARCNET installations. Its eight ports allow connecting up to eight drive controllers on one network. Moreover, this unit automatically isolates faulty nodes from the rest of the network.

Hub Architecture
The GE DS200AAHAH1ADC uses six aluminum capacitors for power filtering. Each port contains a dedicated repeater IC for signal regeneration. Additionally, the board implements automatic termination on unused ports. You get plug-and-play operation without manual termination adjustments.
Energy Storage Components
Six aluminum capacitors filter the 5V backplane power for all hub circuits. Twelve ceramic capacitors provide local decoupling for each repeater IC. These capacitors also absorb voltage spikes from cable disconnections. Clean power ensures reliable signal regeneration on all eight ports. Consequently, the hub maintains network integrity during electrical noise events.
Port Isolation Feature
The hub monitors each port for excessive error rates. When a port exceeds 10 errors per second, the hub disables it automatically. This isolation prevents a faulty node from crashing the entire network. The hub retests the isolated port every 10 seconds. Normal operation resumes automatically when the fault clears.
Installation Steps
Insert this hub board into any Mark V slot with 64-pin backplane connection. Align the GE DS200AAHAH1ADC with its plastic card guides carefully. Push the board straight in until the backplane connector seats fully. Then tighten the two front panel retaining screws. Connect each ARCNET drop cable to an available BNC port.
Port Configuration
The hub requires no dip switch or jumper settings for operation. All ports operate identically at 2.5 Mbps data rate. Connect a terminator only to ports that have no cable attached. The hub automatically terminates open ports internally. Do not add external terminators on connected cables. Only terminate the far end of each cable at the node device.
Status Indication
Eight LEDs indicate the activity status of each port individually. A green blinking LED shows normal network traffic on that port. A steady red LED indicates that the hub has isolated that port. No LED illumination means no cable connection or no node activity. The GE DS200AAHAH1ADC also reports port status through the backplane. Your control system can monitor hub health remotely.
Network Topology Benefits
Star topology reduces the impact of single cable failures dramatically. A broken cable affects only one node instead of the whole network. Troubleshooting becomes simpler because you can check each port independently. Many power plants use the GE DS200AAHAH1ADC for critical turbine control networks. Its active design extends total network length beyond passive limits.
