Module Overview
This digital slave module expands I/O capacity at remote field locations. You can install ABB Bailey NDSM04 directly into INFI 90 remote I/O racks. The unit communicates with the master controller over fiber optic cables. It scans local digital inputs and updates outputs without central processor intervention.

Board Layout and Components
The PCB integrates a communication processor and local I/O circuits on one board. Sixteen input optoisolators line the left edge for field isolation. Moreover, 322 discrete components include transistor output drivers and fiber optic transceivers. Tantalum capacitors filter noise on both communication and I/O power rails. Consequently, the module operates reliably in electrically noisy environments.
Installation Process
You can mount ABB Bailey NDSM04 into any INFI 90 remote I/O rack slot. The backplane connector supplies power and interfaces to local I/O modules. Furthermore, front panel ST ports connect to fiber optic cables from the master. Configuration software sets node addresses and communication parameters easily.
Performance Advantages
This module operates up to 2000 meters away from the master controller. The fiber optic link provides complete electrical isolation from the central rack. Therefore, remote field stations work safely in high-voltage areas. The scan of 16 inputs and 16 outputs also handles many field devices without extra modules.
Safety and Compliance
ABB Bailey NDSM04 meets CE and RoHS industrial standards. The board discharges stored energy below 3V within five seconds. Hence, technicians face minimal electrical risk during installation or maintenance.
