This bus controller module manages communication between a Series 90-30 CPU and Genius I/O blocks. It scans up to 32 Genius devices on a single bus. You will install this module in any slot of the main rack.

Hardware Architecture and Processing

The IC693BEM331E integrates a dedicated 16-bit microprocessor for bus management. Thirty-two kilobytes of flash memory store the communication firmware. Dual-port RAM shares data directly with the CPU backplane. The module also includes a watchdog timer for automatic reset on software lockup.

Interface and Connectivity

One 9-pin female D-sub connector attaches to the Genius bus cable. A 24-pin backplane interface transfers data to and from the Series 90-30 CPU. Two front LEDs indicate power status and active communication. The module also features a rotary switch for setting the bus address.

Practical Installation Notes

Install this bus controller in any slot except the CPU’s dedicated position. The IC693BEM331E requires termination resistors at both bus ends. Always use shielded twisted-pair cable for maximum noise immunity. Set the rotary switch before inserting the module into the rack.
