Product Overview
This BaseUnit provides the mechanical and electrical foundation for ET 200SP I/O modules. It accommodates a single electronic module in a 15 mm width configuration. The unit measures 15 mm in width, 117 mm in height, and 82 mm in depth. Its lightweight design weighs approximately 40 grams for simple DIN rail installation. You can snap this BaseUnit onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail without tools. The unit includes integrated spring-type terminals for secure field wiring connections.
This BaseUnit supports up to 10 A total current through its built-in power bus. It provides a connection for the 24 V DC load power supply via the L+ terminals. The unit includes a strain relief mechanism for preventing cable pull-out. You can also use this BaseUnit with the ET 200SP’s color-coded labeling system. The module’s dark gray housing distinguishes it from the light gray electronic modules.

Key Features and Benefits
This BaseUnit eliminates the need for individual terminal blocks for every I/O point. Its spring-type terminals accept solid and flexible conductors with ferrules easily. The strain relief ensures reliable connections even under moderate vibration. You can replace the electronic module without rewiring the field cables. The unit supports both single and redundant power supply configurations.
Installation and Wiring
You clip the BaseUnit onto the DIN rail until it locks into place. Connect the 24 V DC power supply to the L+ and M terminals securely. Insert the I/O module into the BaseUnit until you hear it click. The system will automatically establish communication through the backplane bus. You then connect field devices to the appropriate terminal points on the unit. For removal, press the module release button and pull it out.
Typical Applications
Control cabinet builders use this BaseUnit for constructing distributed I/O stations. System integrators rely on it for flexible and modular control system designs. The unit also serves in retrofitting existing panels with ET 200SP technology.
