The Schneider TSXRKZ02 expands I/O capacity for Modicon Premium PLC systems. This mini extension rack adds three slots for additional modules. You will find it in systems that need more I/O points without replacing the main rack. It connects to the primary rack through a dedicated extension cable. Therefore, this unit allows flexible system growth in tight spaces.
This rack measures 150 mm in height and 85 mm in width. Its depth reaches 110 mm for panel mounting. The unit weighs approximately 0.65 kilograms. It contains a passive backplane with three card-edge connectors. No active electronic components exist inside this rack. Additionally, you get four mounting holes for securing the unit.

Internal Architecture and Energy Storage
The Schneider TSXRKZ02 stores absolutely no electrical energy internally. It contains no capacitors, batteries, or inductors at all. Three card-edge connectors provide the physical interface for I/O modules. These connectors tie together through a passive backplane PCB. The backplane uses four copper layers for signal distribution. One layer carries +5 VDC power from the main rack. Another layer handles the 24 VDC I/O power bus. Two additional layers manage data and address signals. A 50-pin connector on the right side accepts the extension cable.
Connection Interfaces and Extension Method
You will find a 50-pin female connector on the right side panel. This connector accepts the Premium extension cable from the main rack. Connect one cable end to the primary rack’s expansion port. Then, connect the other end to this mini rack’s input connector. The Schneider TSXRKZ02 includes no separate power input. It draws all necessary power from the main rack through the cable. Each slot receives +5 VDC at up to 1.5 amps maximum. The backplane also passes I/O bus signals between adjacent slots. Always terminate the last rack in a chain properly.
Installation and Mounting Steps
You mount this rack onto a flat metal panel with four screws. First, mark the four mounting hole positions carefully. Then, drill 4.5 mm holes for M4 screws. Secure the rack using M4 screws with lock washers. Connect the extension cable between the main rack and this unit. The Schneider TSXRKZ02 requires no additional configuration jumpers. Install your I/O modules into the three empty slots gently. Slide each module until the backplane connector seats firmly. The rack automatically addresses modules based on physical position. Power on the system and verify that all modules appear in software. Label the rack clearly for future maintenance identification.
