Internal Design and I/O Processing

This electronic assembly uses a 16-bit CPU for I/O scanning and bus communication. The GE IC660EBA104 scans 16 inputs and 16 outputs every 1 millisecond. A bus transceiver manages communication on the Genius serial network. The assembly transmits I/O data to the bus controller automatically. Two 470 µF capacitors filter power supply ripple for clean operation. Consequently, this device provides reliable distributed I/O on Genius networks.

Installation and Wiring Guide

First, mount this electronic assembly inside a Genius I/O housing enclosure. Next, connect a 24 V DC field supply to the power terminals. Then, wire your field devices to the 40-pin I/O connector via terminal assembly. Connect the Genius bus wires to the 2-pin bus terminal. Use shielded twisted-pair cable for the Genius bus connection. The assembly automatically configures its I/O mapping when connected to the bus. Four LED indicators show power, OK status, bus activity, and fault conditions. This electronic assembly works with Genius terminal assemblies like IC660TBR100 and IC660TBR101. Always terminate both ends of the Genius bus line with the proper resistor.
