The IC200CHS001A functions as a carrier module for the VersaMax I/O platform. This unit holds up to three VersaMax I/O modules in a single assembly. It provides mechanical support and electrical connections for all inserted modules. Therefore, this carrier enables flexible I/O configurations for distributed automation systems.
Technical Specifications
We engineered this carrier module for easy system assembly and maintenance. Its compact design mounts on standard DIN rails or panel surfaces. Moreover, the unit includes a built-in backplane for module-to-module communication.

Mechanical Design and Construction
The IC200CHS001A features a rugged thermoplastic housing for durability. Three module slots accept any VersaMax I/O or specialty module type. Each slot includes keying features to prevent incorrect module insertion. Consequently, you can mix discrete, analog, and communication modules freely.
Backplane Communication
This carrier module provides a passive backplane for all installed I/O modules. The backplane carries power and data signals between modules simultaneously. A network interface unit or CPU must occupy the leftmost position. Therefore, the carrier requires a bus controller to function as a complete station.
Power Distribution System
The IC200CHS001A distributes 24V DC field power to all inserted modules. It also routes 5V DC logic power from the controller or power supply module. Removable terminal blocks accept incoming power wiring from an external source. The carrier includes individual return paths for each module’s field devices.
Field Wiring Connections
This carrier module includes three removable terminal blocks for field wiring. Each terminal block serves one I/O module slot with dedicated connections. The blocks feature rising-clamp technology for secure wire retention. Consequently, you can pre-wire terminal blocks before installing the carrier module.
Energy Storage and Components
The IC200CHS001A contains no battery or capacitor energy storage devices. It operates as a purely passive interconnect component in the system. All power comes from external sources through the terminal blocks. Hence, the carrier retains no configuration data or electrical charge when disconnected.
Installation and Mounting
Mount the IC200CHS001A onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail securely. Push the carrier down until the retaining clip locks into place. Alternatively, use the two mounting ears for panel installation. Connect 24V DC power to the designated terminal block positions. Insert the bus controller into the leftmost slot before adding other modules. Always remove power before inserting or removing any terminal block.
