Core Function and Input Capabilities

The ABB Bailey IMSER02 captures time-stamped digital events with millisecond accuracy. This module monitors up to 32 discrete input channels simultaneously. Each channel senses either dry contact closures or 24 V DC signals. The module scans all inputs every 500 microseconds continuously. Therefore, it detects state changes within half a millisecond. The IMSER02 assigns a precise time stamp to every input transition. Its crystal oscillator provides 1 millisecond resolution for all recorded events.

Memory, Components, and Energy Details

The IMSER02 stores up to 4096 events in its internal buffer memory. This buffer operates as a first-in-first-out circular queue. Consequently, older events drop out when the buffer becomes full. The ABB Bailey IMSER02 contains one main PCB and one 10 MHz crystal oscillator. One buffer memory chip and two 20-pin ribbon cable headers complete the assembly. This events recorder stores no electrical energy internally. It includes zero batteries or high-value capacitors. Hence, the IMSER02 requires no scheduled battery replacements.

Physical Dimensions and Installation Guidelines

The ABB Bailey IMSER02 weighs only 0.65 kilograms for easy handling. Its height measures 310mm, width 30mm, and depth 250mm. Install this recorder module adjacent to the master controller for best performance. Connect each field contact using twisted-pair shielded cables. Set the input type selector jumper for either dry contact or voltage sensing. Apply 24 V DC power from a dedicated supply. The IMSER02 operates reliably from 0°C to +60°C ambient temperature. It consumes only 3.5 watts of power during full scan operation.
