The IMSER02 assigns a precise time stamp to every input transition. Its crystal oscillator provides 1 millisecond resolution for all recorded events.

The IMSER02 stores up to 4096 events in its internal buffer memory. This buffer operates as a first-in-first-out circular queue. Consequently, older events drop out when the buffer becomes full. The ABB Bailey IMSER02 contains one main PCB and one 10 MHz crystal oscillator. One buffer memory chip and two 20-pin ribbon cable headers complete the assembly. This events recorder stores no electrical energy internally. It includes zero batteries or high-value capacitors. Hence, the IMSER02 requires no scheduled battery replacements.
