The ABB Bailey IIAMS03 enables serial communication between Bailey controllers and external devices. This module supports three independent serial ports for flexible connectivity. The IIAMS03 contains one main PCB with three UART controllers. A single crystal oscillator provides accurate timing for all baud rates. Three DB9 male connectors mount directly on the front panel. Six status LEDs show transmit and receive activity per port. The ABB Bailey IIAMS03 stores no electrical energy internally. It includes zero batteries or capacitors for maintenance-free operation.

Installation and Configuration Guidelines

Install this serial interface module next to the master controller for short cable runs. Connect each serial device using shielded cables to reduce noise interference. Set the port configuration jumpers before inserting the IIAMS03 into the rack. Select the baud rate through the configuration software for each port separately. Use RS-422 or RS-485 for distances exceeding 15 meters. The module operates reliably from 0°C to +60°C ambient temperature.
