Internal Design and Cam Processing
This cam module uses a single 16-bit counter for position tracking. Eight independent comparators evaluate the current position against stored cam values. The Siemens 6FM1610-1CC00 accepts 5 V differential signals from incremental encoders. Each output channel triggers when the counter matches a programmed cam limit. The module stores no energy for cam data retention after power loss. Therefore, you must reload cam positions during each system startup.
Installation and Wiring Guide
First, mount this module into any S5 rack slot except the CPU slot. Next, connect your incremental encoder to the 15-pin SUB-D port on the front panel. Then, wire your load devices to the eight output terminals. Use shielded twisted-pair cables for the encoder connection. The module requires a minimum 1 ms output pulse width for reliable actuation. You can program each cam as normally open or normally closed. This module works with S5 CPUs 115U, 135U, and 155U models.
