The Schneider TSXPSY5500MC supplies regulated DC power to Modicon Premium PLC racks. This module converts 230V AC into stable 5V and 24V outputs. Therefore, it powers all connected I/O and processor modules in the chassis.
Product Overview
We designed this power supply for reliable operation in industrial control cabinets. Its wide input range accommodates global power grids without adjustment. Moreover, this unit includes diagnostic LEDs for each output rail.

Power Conversion Topology
The Schneider TSXPSY5500MC uses a flyback converter for compact size. Its four bulk capacitors filter rectified AC into a smooth DC bus. Additionally, separate regulation loops control each output independently. You get stable voltages even when loads vary between 10% and 100%.
Energy Storage Array
Four bulk capacitors provide 20 ms of hold-up during AC line dips. This maintains processor operation through brief brownout conditions. Twelve output capacitors filter switching noise on all DC rails. Each output has dedicated capacitors sized for its current demand. Clean power ensures reliable operation of sensitive analog I/O modules.
Installation Steps
Insert this power module into the leftmost slot of a Premium rack. Align the Schneider TSXPSY5500MC with the backplane connector guide. Push the module firmly until its locking mechanism clicks into place. Then secure the module with the top retaining screw. Connect AC wiring to the front terminal block with 0.5 Nm torque.
AC Input Connections
Connect the live wire to terminal L and neutral to terminal N. Connect the ground wire to the terminal marked with the ground symbol. Use 16 AWG minimum wire for all AC power connections. The module accepts only 50/60 Hz AC input, not DC. A built-in fuse protects against internal short circuits.
Output Power Distribution
The module delivers 5V at 5.5A to processor and I/O modules. The 24V output provides 0.8A for auxiliary devices or relay coils. Both outputs feed directly into the backplane for distribution. The module monitors output voltage and current continuously. A red LED illuminates if either output falls below 90% of nominal.
Status Indication
A green AC OK LED illuminates when input power is present. A green DC OK LED illuminates when both outputs operate normally. A red LED indicates overload or short-circuit on either output. The module also transmits status through the backplane communication bus. The processor can read power supply health for system diagnostics.
Thermal Performance
The module operates without forced cooling up to 60°C ambient. A ventilated metal housing dissipates heat through natural convection. The internal temperature sensor shuts down the module at 85°C. Automatic restart occurs when temperature drops below 70°C. Keep the ventilation slots unobstructed for proper cooling.
Application Scope
This power supply suits Premium TSX/PMX rack systems exclusively. Many factories use the Schneider TSXPSY5500MC for new installations and replacements. Its compact design occupies only one slot in the rack.
