Internal Design and Backplane Architecture

This expansion plate uses a passive backplane PCB for signal distribution. Five slot connectors link each module to the internal expansion bus. The GE IC693CHS391K receives power and communication from the main CPU baseplate. A 50-pin expansion connector accepts a ribbon cable to the master rack. The passive design introduces no signal delay or active processing. Consequently, this plate supports high-speed communication for up to five additional modules.

Installation and Connection Guide

First, mount this expansion plate onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail or panel. Next, install your power supply module into the leftmost slot of the plate. Then, insert I/O modules into the remaining slots as needed. Connect the 50-pin ribbon cable between this plate and the CPU baseplate. Use the shortest possible cable length for reliable communication (maximum 15 meters). Connect the M4 grounding stud to your system’s earth ground for safety. This expansion plate works with all Series 90-30 CPU models including 311, 331, 341, 363, and 364. Always terminate unused expansion connectors with the provided protective cover.
