Technical Specifications and Module Design
This extension module expands I/O capacity for ABB Advant AC31 and AC500 PLC systems. The ABB 1SBP260104R1001 adds additional input and output channels to the base controller. You can install this unit onto the side of a compatible CPU or bus coupler. Its compact design requires no separate mounting rack or enclosure. The module weighs approximately 0.22 kilograms. Its dimensions measure 11 cm in height, 7 cm in width, and 6 cm in depth.

I/O Expansion and Channel Configuration
The module provides eight digital inputs and six digital outputs in one unit. Each input channel accepts 24V DC signals from standard industrial sensors. The ABB 1SBP260104R1001 uses optocoupler isolation for all input circuits. Each output channel drives solenoids, relays, and indicator lamps directly. The transistor outputs switch within 0.2 milliseconds of the CPU command. A green LED indicates power and communication status with the controller. Individual LEDs show the state of each input and output point.
System Integration and Addressing
You connect this module directly to the side of an AC31 CPU or bus coupler. The module automatically receives power and communication through the side connector. The ABB 1SBP260104R1001 does not require any external wiring for bus communication. The CPU automatically assigns I/O addresses to this extension module. You can connect up to seven extension modules to a single controller. The module occupies a contiguous block in the I/O address space. An 8-position DIP switch sets the module’s address offset.
Installation and Operational Guidelines
You must clip this module onto the DIN rail before connecting to adjacent modules. The side connector must align properly with the neighboring unit. The ABB 1SBP260104R1001 draws its power from the controller through the bus. It requires no separate external power supply for operation. You should verify the total output current does not exceed 3 Amps. The module stores no I/O states when you remove system power. Therefore, all outputs return to OFF after each power-up cycle. The operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +55°C.
