Hardware Architecture and Energy Storage

The 1407-CGCM uses 1500 µF of bus capacitance for field current regulation. Fifty-four resistors set gain and scaling parameters for voltage sensing circuits. Four form C relays provide dry contact outputs for alarm signaling. A dedicated microprocessor runs the PID algorithm at 100 Hz update rate.

Interface and Connectivity

Four 6-position screw terminal blocks accept field wiring from CTs and PTs. One 20-pin backplane connector links the module to the ControlLogix processor. The front panel features LED indicators for power, run, and alarm status. An RS-232 port allows local configuration using a laptop connection.

Practical Installation Notes

Install this module in any slot of a 1756 ControlLogix chassis. The 1407-CGCM requires external fusing on all CT inputs for safety. Always connect the module’s ground terminal to the system earth bus. Verify the excitation output matches your generator’s field specifications.
